German Cockroach

Identification: An adult German cockroach is about 1/2 - 5/8” long.  They are light brown to tan in color with two dark stripes on the back of the head.

Habits:  By far the most common roach found in homes, restaurants, supermarkets, hospitals, or anywhere food is stored, prepared, or served. German cockroaches are hitchhikers and may come into homes in grocery sacks, beverage cases, potato sacks, furniture, appliances, etc. They prefer warm, moist areas near food and water sources (kitchens, bathrooms, etc.). A female can produce up to 600 offspring in one year, much greater than any of the other roach species. Once hatched, the nymphs can reach sexual maturity in as little as 45 - 60 days. Because of their prolific reproduction, a single cockroach can result in a serious infestation in very little time.

Control: A thorough hand spraying of the infested areas with the appropriately labeled pesticide is the most effective tool to the consumer.  This type of treatment may need to be repeated several times due to their prolific reproduction rate. Monroe Pest Control Inc. specializes in roach elimination in a residential or commercial setting. Upon completion of services, we offer a full warranty.
