Identification: An adult bald face hornet is 5/8-3/4" long. They are black with white patterns on most of the face.

Habits: They build their nest in trees, bushes or attached to the side of a structure (least common). These are typically football or large teardrop-shaped nests.

Control: The safest way to eliminate a nest is to treat it at night or after dusk. An appropriately labeled aerosol should be applied through the entrance hole at the bottom of the nest. The nest should be removed and placed in a plastic garbage bag to be discarded. Then apply residual dust to the area to prevent a new nest from being built. Monroe Pest Control Inc. specializes in riding these insects from around your home. A full warranty is granted upon completion of services.
